Abstract
In this research, a selective electrode was developed using carbon paste modified with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and tetraphenylborate for the detection of barium ions. The prepared electrode showed a distinct response to barium ions within a linear concentration range of 1.0 × 10–6 to 1.0 × 10–2 M, with a Nernst slope of 28.18 mV/decade and a rapid response time of approximately 25 seconds. It functioned effectively within a pH range of 5 to 10. Utilizing the matched potential method (MPM), it was demonstrated that the electrode has notable selectivity for barium ions in the presence of various other ions. A statistical comparison with a reference method confirmed the accuracy and validity of the used analytical technique, as no statistically significant differences were observed between the two methods.
