Abstract
The solid-state structure of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-1,4-di(2-pyridyl)phthalazine (6-dppn) was characterized by X-ray diffraction and a crystallographic study was then
conducted. It was found that 6-dppn exists in the trans/trans conformation. This ligand crystallizes in P21/c(14) space group with unit cell parameters of a = 9.698(2) Å, b = 9.999(4) Å, c = 10.7268(3) Å, β = 92.890(6)o, Z = 8 and V = 2958.2(14) Å3. The noncovalent interactions involved in the structure of 6-dppn were investigated and presented in terms of supramolecular chemistry and crystal engineering.
