Abstract

Titrimetric analysis of acids and bases is widely used. We show in this brief review a little known phenomenon of how concentrated salts can enhance the titrations of weak bases. In aqueous solutions, the activity of the titrant proton is enhanced, while in nonaqueous solutions, the base is leveled to a stronger base, both allow titrations of very weak bases.
