Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of (a) propiophenone benzoic acid hydrazone, (b) 4’– methyl propiophenone benzoic acid hydrazone, (c) 4’– methoxy propiophenone benzoic acid hydrazone, (d) 4’– hydroxy propiophenone benzoic acid hydrazone and (e) 4’– chloro propiophenone benzoic acid hydrazone were investigated at the dropping mercury electrode by employing DC polarography. The variables that influence the electrode process were extensively studied. All compounds under investigation gave a single well defined polarographic wave. The mechanism for the electrode process was proposed in acid as well as in basic media.
