Molecular Docking Studies and X-ray Structure Determination of


The structure of 1-{4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl}-5-phenyl-1H-tetrazole was determined by X-ray crystallography. The latter crystallizes in the monoclinic space group Ia. The cell dimensions of the azole are a = 12.2393 (6) , b = 12.4076 (6) , c = 10.0409 (5) , b = 112.5240 (5), V = 1408.50 (12) 3, and Z = 4, and its structure was refined to R1 = 0.0230, wR2 = 0.0614. The tetrazole ring is essentially planar, while the aryl rings at the 1- and 5-positions of this compound show consistent twist from the tetrazole plane, with tetrazole-aryl dihedral angles in the range of 38.63(4) to 47.23(5). No strong intermolecular hydrogen bonds were observed. Docking study of the studied tetrazole with cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme was preformed. Amino acid residues in the binding site that interact with the molecule were identified and their interactions with the ligand were discussed.

1,2-Ethylidene bridged bis-(benzimidazolyl, benzothiazolyl, and benzoxazolyl)  transition metal complexes as catalysts for ethylene polymerization

Structure-property-relationship studies for catalytic ethylene polymerization have been performed with 1,2-ethylidene bridged bis-(benzimidazolyl, benzothiazolyl and benzoxazolyl) complexes of Ti,  Zr and V.

Selective Hydrogenation of Cinnamaldehyde Catalyzed by Ruthenium (II) Complexes Based on Azoimine Ligands

                Four Ru (II) complexes based on azoimine ligands were tested with respect to their catalytic behavior in the liquid phase hydrogenation of cinnamaldehyde (CALD). With a CALD-to-Ru ratio of 84:1 at T=86oC, pH2=4 bar and [KOH]= 5.8210-3 M,  a complete conversion could be accomplished in only 90 minutes with selectivity to cinnamyl alcohol approaching 95%.

Synthesis and Characterization of Some Unsymmetrical Schiff Bases and their Copper(II) and Nickel(II) Complexes

Successful synthesis of new unsymmetrical Schiff bases has been accomplished either directly or via the template method in presence of nickel (II) and copper (II) salts. Characterization of the isolated imines and their complexes included NMR, IR, elemental analysis, MS, UV-Vis, magnetic susceptibility, melting point techniques, and theoretical calculations using DFT/B3LYP.
